Easter Monday is Hat Day at Keukenhof
On Easter Monday, Keukenhof traditionally becomes the Manhattanof the Bollenstreek. The Easter Parade is not a tradition of the same calibre as that inNew York - yet - but the enthusiasm of the organisers and visitors is fantastic. The show with extravagant hats is not only about ‘seeing and being seen’; it is also a tribute to the craftsmanship of the hat maker. Visitors can parade their own hats at Keukenhof too, whether they are store-bought or home-made.
Visitors can participate in hat decorating between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (spring hat with a flower arrangement). Of course you can decorate your own hat if you wish. The price is €10.00 for an adult’s hat and €7.50 for a child’s hat.
On of the most successful events on Easter Monday (9 April) is the annual international hat show. Jackie Habets of What’s Up (Schiedam andAntwerp) is organising this event in the park for the seventh time. Professional international hat designers will present spectacular flower hats on the catwalk in the Willem Alexander Pavilion. The second show will be followed by the Easter Parade (the Hat Parade) through the park for a group photo.
The fabulous hat shows will be held at 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. Location: Willem Alexander Pavilion, Keukenhof.
