11-06-2010 - Closing message from Keukenhof 2010: Record number of foreign visitors to Keukenhof

LISSE – Records show the 61st edition of the Keukenhof international flower exhibition attracted record numbers of foreign visitors. More than 75% of visitors to the park came from abroad. This year there were a remarkable number of visitors from France and Eastern Europe. The theme “From Russia with Love” led to more than double the number of Russian visitors. During May we also saw many groups from India. Keukenhof looks back on the season with satisfaction, despite the ash cloud and the cool temperatures this spring. The park was blooming beautifully right up to the last day.

13-05-2010 - Keukenhof to bring spring greetings to Germany in 2011

In 2011, Keukenhof will bring its first spring greetings to Germany. The international flower exhibition has chosen ‘Germany: Land of Poets and Philosophers’ as its central theme for next year. This is not just a tribute to our most important export market for bulbs and flowers, but also to our many tens of thousands of visitors from Germany. Statistically speaking, Germany is the largest individual country of origin of the approximately 800,000 visitors welcomed to Keukenhof each year. Around 20% of these come from the east.

22-04-2010 - Aron Winter, Pierre van Hooijdonk and Jean Marie Pfaff unveil The HollandBelgium Bid flowerbed at the Keukenhof on 22 April 2010

Eindhoven, 17 April 2010 – The ambassador of The HollandBelgium Bid, the candidacy of the Netherlands and Belgium for the Football World Cup in 2018 or 2022, will unveil a large flowerbed with the logo of The HollandBelgium Bid in the afternoon of Thursday 22nd April at Keukenhof. He will do so in the presence of a number of other ambassadors from the Netherlands and Belgium.

20-04-2010 - St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow is blooming at Keukenhof!

The Russian Ambassador at the time added the final touches to the flower bulb mosaic at Keukenhof in October 2009. The design by Jasper van der Zon show a flower mosaic of approximately 65,000 flower bulbs. Mainly a double early tulip. Besides also white and blue grape hyacinths have been used. The mosaic in full bloom can be seen at Keukenhof the coming weeks.

17-03-2010 - Mrs Svetlana Medvedeva, spouse of Russian president, officially opened 61st edition of Keukenhof international flower exhibition

Accompanied by HRH Princess Máxima der Nederlanden Mrs Svetlana Medvedeva, spouse of the president of the Russian Federation has officially opened the 61st edition of Keukenhof international flower exhibition in Lisse, The Netherlands. She was especially invited because this year’s central theme is ‘From Russia with love’. The opening ceremony was the baptizing of a newly bred tulip. Keukenhof 2010 is open for the public until May 16th.

With changing and permanent indoor exhibitions in three specially-designed pavilions, Keukenhof always offers visitors a splendid display of flowers. Every week, there is a new and stunning flower show in the Oranje Nassau Pavilion focussing on particular flowers. In addition to the basic shows of tulips, narcissi, daffodils and lilies in the Willem Alexander Pavilion, there are changing spring shows. As always, the Beatrix Pavilion forms the setting for surprising exotic flowers and plants: anthuriums, bromelias and orchids.  Thanks to these indoor flower shows, Keukenhof as always offers special attractions in 2010.

The most beautiful tulip prints and drawings from the Rijksmuseum collection Rijksmuseum in partnership with Keukenhof

Starting on 2 March, the Rijksmuseum will exhibit its most beautiful  prints and drawings of tulips from the 17th and 18th centuries. Individual tulips, tulips in bouquets, in the garden, as the design for a silver ornament, and featured in allegorical scenes. The highlight of the presentation will be the tulip book created by Jacob Marrel between 1637 and 1639. Complete tulip books are extremely rare, and the Marrel is seldom exhibited in public.

The fashion exhibition Gone with the wind (18 March to 16 May 2010) in the Juliana pavilion at Keukenhof focuses on the creative ideas of the Dutch fashion world. The organisation of this exhibition is in the hands of the Zuiderzeemuseum, where it was first on display in 2009.

From 18 March to 16 May Keukenhof presents a permanent floral abundance of unprecedented beauty, in three specially designed pavilions. This year there are about sixteen permanent and varying indoor shows. They promise visitors a genuine ‘spring experience’, with thousands of delightful flowers and colours in classic, contemporary and futuristic arrangements.  In February 2010 the leading international trade magazine FloraCulture International (www.floraculture.eu) will launch a unique English language edition on the occasion of the Keukenhof, Holland’s world-famous Spring Gardens. The special theme of the magazine will showcase the very best Keukenhof has to offer. Editorial includes a general overview of the 32 ha historic park filled with blooming tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other spring bulbs.

15-10-2009 - Keukenhof and Russia join forces to launch theme year

Lisse, the Netherlands: At 11.00 am on Thursday 15 October, His Excellency Mr K.G. Gevorgian, Russian ambassador to the Netherlands, joined forces with Keukenhof to add the final touches to the flower bulb mosaic of St. Basil’s Cathedral. The mosaic presents an impression of the towers of St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow’s Red Square. The Cathedral measures 21 by 12 metres and has been created from almost 65,000 flower bulbs. Its colourful splendour will reveal itself in all its floral glory in the spring of 2010.

Keukenhof is unique, world famous and has been one of the most popular destinations in the Netherlands for many years now. And it has been photographed millions of times, more than any other location. The same also applies to the surrounding bulb fields as well, of course. In 2010, you will be able to experience our spring park with the audiovisual Discovery Tour. Keukenhof is therefore constantly updating itself. And you will always feel welcome here, whether you visit us on your own, with the children or as a group. Here, you can see spring in all its splendour for two whole months.
